 Harmonised Trade – Exports and Imports

From 2pm 8 March 2017 Data for the new HS2017 codes are now available through the Harmonised Trade tables.

Data for the new HS2017 codes are not currently available through the Harmonised Trade tables. This means some of the detail for January 2017 is missing. Higher levels (such as totals) are correct.
All HS10 data is available through overseas merchandise trade datasets.

 28 February  Harmonised System 2017

From January 2017 overseas merchandise trade data is compiled using the Harmonised System classification (HS2017). Before January 2017, the 2012 Harmonised System classification (HS2012) applies. At the two digit level, the impact of HS2017 is minimal. However, at more detailed levels there are significant changes to codes.

See Harmonised System 2017 for the classification and concordance to HS2012. For analysis of the changes see Harmonised Classification 2017 - Overseas Trade data.

 (RTT) Retail Trade Survey and (RTE) Retail Trade Deflator

We have corrected an error in the calculation of the fuel deflator for the Retail Trade Survey: December 2016 quarter released on 27 February.
The fuel deflator measures price change and is used in calculating the fuel volume series.
The correction to the fuel volume series also affects the numbers published for total sales volumes.

These corrected series will be released after 2:00pm today.

 27 February  (ITM) International Travel and Migration – Visitor departures by country of residence

With the August 2016 data release we changed these series to full coverage.

Due to recovery issues with some of our underlying software after the 14 November 2016 North Canterbury earthquake, sampled data was loaded for the visitor departure by country of last permanent residence, for the October and November 2016 months.

On 27 February 2017 we corrected the October and November 2016 months.

(RTT) Retail Trade Survey

We have revised the value and volume sales data for the Accommodation retailing industry for the September 2016 quarter.
These revisions also affect the total New Zealand and core data, plus regional data for this industry.

The revisions are the result of updated information from respondents.

(DPE) Population Estimates

Due to disruptions related to the November 2016 earthquake, Data Infrastructure was unavailable to produce final population estimates for the September 2016 quarter.

Population estimates at December 2016 use the provisional September 2016 figures as a base. Both of these will be finalised in May.

Note: On 1 February 2017 Infoshare was updated to correct a manual processing error and to update the indexes as new information has become available following the outages on 14 November 2016. The data is provisional for four months from the end of the reference period (eg October 2016 data is final in this release, November 2016 data is still provisional).
