Iwi statistical standard: 2017 review

Feedback on standard to be considered

Submissions for the Iwi statistical standard are now closed. We are gathering all responses from online submissions, written submissions, and discussions with iwi and Māori groups. We will publish a summary of the responses on our website in August 2017.

The advisory group of Māori and government agency members aims to complete the standard in August 2017 after considering the feedback. The finalised standard will be approved for use and published on our website.

Request an update to the iwi classification

If your group is not listed in the iwi classification, please complete the request an update to the iwi standard classification form and return it to iwi.review@stats.govt.nz by 20 June 2017 for consideration at the governance panel's meeting in July.

Note: If you wish your group to be considered in time for the 2018 Census, please return your completed form by 7 August 2017.

Forms received after that date will be considered at a later governance panel meeting. However, groups will not be in the iwi classification list used in the 2018 Census.
