Media release – Regional distinction grows in screen industry
Screen Industry in New Zealand National and Regional Tables: 2010 expands on the Screen Industry Survey: 2009/10 information release in March 2011. It is published in place of the detailed report produced in previous years, in order to give users quicker access to data.
The tables are presented as two downloadable Excel files: national tables, and regional tables. National tables relate to those previously published within the annual reports. Where possible, data from 2005 onwards is included. A change in collection methodology means that comparable data for some previously published tables is not available for 2010 – specifically, industry size and businesses by gross revenue range, and the matrix of business activities.
Regional data is based on the registered location of the screen industry business. Each business is counted only once. Where a business has more than one location, the one with the highest employment count is regarded as the main location for that business. Regional tables present data from 2008 onwards, and are related to Screen Industry Survey Regional Data for 2008/09, published in May 2010.
Technical information about the survey is available in the Screen Industry Survey: 2009/10 technical notes.
Note: In July 2011, changes were made to National tables 5, 22 and 23, and Regional tables 1, 2, and 3. A note clarifying the reasons for these changes can be found under each affected table.
