Food Price Index: September 2012

Key facts

In September 2012 compared with August 2012:

  • Food prices fell 0.9 percent.
  • Grocery food prices fell 1.6 percent.
  • Fruit and vegetable prices fell 2.2 percent.
  • Non-alcoholic beverage prices fell 0.5 percent.
  • Meat, poultry, and fish prices rose 0.2 percent.
  • Restaurant meals and ready-to-eat food prices rose 0.2 percent.

From September 2011 to September 2012:

  • Food prices decreased 0.3 percent.
