Food Price Index: September 2009

Highlights

 

In September 2009 compared with August 2009:

  • Food prices fell 0.7 percent.
  • Fruit and vegetable prices fell 8.4 percent.
  • Grocery food prices fell 0.1 percent.
  • Restaurant meals and ready-to-eat food prices rose 0.3 percent.
  • Non-alcoholic beverage prices rose 1.9 percent.
  • Meat, poultry, and fish prices rose 1.8 percent.

From September 2008 to September 2009:

  • Food prices increased 3.3 percent.
