Food Price Index: June 2015

Monthly change

Food prices rose 0.5 percent in the June 2015 month. Food prices fell 0.8 percent after seasonal adjustment for relevant items such as tomatoes and lettuce.

In June 2015 compared with May 2015:

  • Fruit and vegetable prices rose 8.1 percent (down 2.4 percent after seasonal adjustment).
  • Meat, poultry, and fish prices fell 2.8 percent.
  • Grocery food prices fell 0.2 percent.
  • Non-alcoholic beverage prices rose 0.6 percent.
  • Restaurant meals and ready-to-eat food prices rose 0.2 percent.

Annual change

Food prices decreased 0.1 percent in the year to June 2015.

From June 2014 to June 2015:

  • Fruit and vegetable prices increased 1.8 percent.
  • Meat, poultry, and fish prices decreased 1.9 percent.
  • Grocery food prices decreased 2.1 percent.
  • Non-alcoholic beverage prices increased 4.1 percent.
  • Restaurant meals and ready-to-eat food prices increased 1.9 percent.
