Electronic Card Transactions: October 2011

Key facts

Changes in the seasonally adjusted value of transactions (compared with September 2011) were as follows:

  • Total electronic card transactions rose 1.8 percent.
  • Transactions in the retail industries rose 1.5 percent.
  • Transactions in the core retail industries were up 0.9 percent.
  • The three industries with the largest increases were non-retail (excluding services), fuel, and apparel.

The actual (unadjusted) value of transactions in the core retail series was up 6.3 percent from October 2010.
